An Alpine start was required to reach the summit of the Pointe du Grand Pre (3059m). Beginning at Lac de Tignes (2093m), it was a gradual ascent up to a ridge which eventually gains the Col du Santon (2954m). Crampons were required (crunchy neve) to reach the Col du Santon, which then lead to the summit of the Pointe du Grand pre (3059m). From the summit there were fine views of La Grande Motte (3653m).
